Writing a book so that you could learn more about my Christian parents without making sure you are going to heaven would be a complete waste of time. Dad always implored others not to let their friends miss heaven. This was Dad’s motto and his number one goal.
If you have made it to this point, you are most likely a family member or good friend of the family. You may already be saved and assured of your place in heaven, but if you have never made the decision to ask Jesus Christ into your life, or you have strayed away from your faith and wonder if you will be in heaven when your life here on earth ends, why not make sure today?
Like me, many people are tricked into thinking they can live “good” lives, try their best and make it to heaven. Even though they have never made the most important decision of their life, they genuinely believe that they are a Christians. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Then, in Romans 6:23 it says, “The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Thankfully, God loves us and sent His son to die for us on the cross. As Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” My testimony proves that no matter what you have done or how many sins you have committed, God still loves you. John 3:16 is a famous verse because it explains God’s love and his forgiveness very simply, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
All you have to do is ask. He said in Revelation 3:20 “Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in.” You can make sure of your salvation right now by praying this prayer:
“Dear Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose on the third day. I confess that I am a sinner and trust you to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I now receive and confess you as my Lord and personal savior.”
It almost seems too easy, but your faith and that prayer are all it takes to be with God in heaven. Maybe you prayed that prayer long ago when you were a child but, like me, you took a wrong turn and have gotten entangled in a world of sin.
You may feel that God wouldn’t take you back after all of the bad things you have done, but believe me, He will. Look at 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” God also says, in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
I know how hard it is to turn back to God. Leaving friends and addictions behind is difficult. Wondering what everyone will think about you is scary, but heaven is reserved for overcomers. (Revelation 21:7). “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” I beg you to throw your pride away and humble yourself and ask God to forgive your sins. The joy, happiness and healing you will receive once Jesus sets you free is impossible to describe in words.
